Event Round-Up January

Snowball 1/26/19 – Edgewood

Each year we host a fundraiser gala called the snowball where we raise as much money as we can and typically are able to give over $10,000 in grant money to local non profits who support our Southern Harford County Rotary vision and mission:

Our vision is to assure children of Southern Harford County are secure, protected, thriving, valued, and nurtured.

Our mission is to assist the children in Southern Harford County, as a group or through their families, to reach their maximum potential.

Girl Scout Jedi Academy 1/12/19 – Ellicott City

It was a fun troop. We faced two waves of girl scouts. All with trick questions.
We were joined by the Rebel Legion and the Dark Empire.
Randy Ward did a awesome job with the girls. Although he is part of the OLG , he was there under a different banner today.
He still stuck by our side and did a great job.

The girl scouts took good care of us and we thanked them dearly for doing so. They fed us and gave us a nice break room and ample changing area.
I would recommend helping them again when they need us.

In attendance. And working 5 hrs

MAGfest 1/3/19 – National Harbor

the convention was a success there was a core group of people that stay past their scheduled time and made sure that any holes that we had were covered. I want to also thank Albert Torres from New Jersey and Sebastien Gingras from Canada who volunteered their time to help out as well, it is always great to see other people from other Garrisons. We did have two issues that need to be pointed out though the first is if you sign up for a work shift plan on working not standing or sitting behind the tables. The second issue was access to the changing room, just cause we have the keys does not mean the changing room is available for access in the middle of the night, next year if you will need your stuff after the working hours at the table it will be recommended that you take it out of the changing room. But besides that, we had a great time raising money for Child’s Play!
