Staff Officer

Postby Omega 3 » Wed Jul 26, 2017 1:13 pm

For anyone who has done a staff or line officer uniform please inform me on the best way to stiffen the Jodphurs (trousers)
I have everything else i need for authorization except this.
And also who should i speak with about getting approved?
Thanks

If you need to stiffen the flairs in the jodhpurs the best solution is to buy Fusible Interfacing (mid to heavy weight) from Joann's Fabric. It's a white gauzy material that, when ironed on to regular fabric, stiffens it. Turn the pants inside out and iron the interfacing onto the inside of the fabric wehere the flairs are.

Awesome, Thank you.
So i never messed with interfacing before, with that do i stick it on and fold it on the crease of the flair or is there a specific technique?

John-I am the individual you want to talk to about your officer uniform to get approval. Send me a message.

What you can do is cut 2 pieces of interfacing to match each flair and overlay one on one side then one on the other that way you won't have to fold it over the crease and it'll still look crisp when you turn the pants back right-side out. I can take a few photos of a pair I have at home and post them if a visual will help.

Yes, if you could send a couple pictures thst would be very helpful. Because right after that I'm ready to get inspected for approval and have pictures taken.
Thanks

Here are some photos I took last night of a pair of jodphurs I recently finished.

Here they are right-side-out

Here they are inside-out. That white material is the ironed-on Fusible Interfacing that will stiffen the fabric. Just cut it to fit the area you want stiffened or iron on first and trim.

Hope this helps.
